Opening Glance: Utility companies open higher

Shares of utility companies opened mostly higher Monday as oil prices climbed to new heights.

Here is how some utilities traded:

American Electric Power Co. Inc. rose 23 cents to $39.81.

Pepco Holdings Inc. rose 44 cents to $25.32.

Consolidated Edison Inc. rose 30 cents to $38.72.

Southern Co. rose 15 cents to $34.58.
