Supervalu spent $170,000 lobbying in first quarter

Grocery store operator Supervalu Inc. spent $170,000 lobbying the federal government in the first quarter, according to a recent government filing.

The Eden Prairie, Minn.-based company lobbied on legislation, signed into law last month, which requires certain grocery store labels to list a food's country of origin.

Supervalu also lobbied on credit card processing issues and government reimbursement for prescription drugs, according to the form filed April 22 with the House clerk's office.
