American Science gets Abu Dhabi Customs order

American Science and Engineering Inc., which makes X-ray detection systems, said Wednesday that it received a $55.1 million contract from Abu Dhabi Customs for several OmniView, Z Portal and Z Backscatter Van X-ray detection systems.

The systems are meant to scan cargo trucks, passenger vehicles and containers at border checkpoints, American Science said.

American Science shares rose $2.44, or 4.8 percent, to $53.03.
