Shares of pharmaceutical companies closed mixed Wednesday as the broader market fell on another new record for oil.
Light, sweet crude for August delivery rose as high as $144.32 on the New York Mercantile Exchange, but settled at $143.57, up $2.60 from the previous high from a day earlier.
How some key drug makers performed Wednesday:
Schering-Plough Corp., fell 24 cents to $19.47.
Merck & Co., down 32 cents to $38.04.
Pfizer Inc., down 11 cents to $17.62.
Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., up 7 cents to $20.59.
