Shares of Spectrum Control Inc., which makes electronic-control products, may trade actively on Thursday following news that second-quarter profit dropped 21 percent.
Spectrum said customer orders for military and defense programs were delayed, and demand in some segments of its telecom equipment markets was sluggish.
Meanwhile, AMR Corp.'s American Airlines said it may slash hundreds of flight attendant jobs to try and deal with high fuel costs.
American, the nation's largest carrier, said job cuts were necessary to deal with near-term challenges.
Also, medical device maker TranS1 Inc. predicted second-quarter revenue short of its prior outlook, partly because of sales force turnover.
TranS1 makes surgical implants for degenerative disc disease, which affects the lower spine.
