Health care equipment and supply stocks mostly rose early Thursday after the Labor Department reported that the unemployment rate fell flat in June, as economists had expected, abating some concern about the job market.
How shares of some major health care equipment and supply companies fared shortly after the opening bell:
Covidien Ltd. added 27 cents to $48.89.
Stryker Corp. up 10 cents to $62.66.
Baxter International Inc. gained 45 cents to $64.28.
Bucking the trend, Varian Medical Systems Inc. lost 34 cents to $50.43.
