Shares of machinery companies fluctuated in early trading Thursday, along with the overall market, after a report on the service sector came in much weaker than expected.
Meanwhile, a report from the Labor Department showed that the unemployment rate held steady and that the number of jobs lost in the U.S. last month was just above forecasts.
Here's how some machinery stocks were doing in early trading:
Manitowoc Co., down 89 cents, or 3.1 percent, at $27.94.
Terex Corp., down $2.08, or 4.4 percent, at $45.14.
Cummins Inc., up 24 cents at $64.01.
Caterpillar Inc., down 78 cents at $69.64.
Deere & Co., down $1.32 at $68.93.
