Health care equipment and supply stocks ended lower Monday as Wall Street continued to worry about the effects of rising oil prices on the economy. Concerns about the financial health of government-sponsored lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac also weighed on the market.

Covidien Ltd. fell 37 cents to close at $47.52.
Stryker Corp. lost 42 cents to $62.08.
Baxter International Inc. dropped 24 cents to $63.88.
Varian Medical Systems Inc. shed 3 cents to $50.84.
