Shares of insurers mostly rose Tuesday along with the broader market as oil prices fell and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the central bank might extend its lending efforts to investment banks to help improve liquidity in credit markets.
Here's a look at how some insurers fared Tuesday:
Ambac Financial Group Inc. rose 73 cents, or 53 percent, to $2.12.
MGIC Investment Corp. rose $1.70, or 29 percent, to $7.50.
Cincinnati Financial Corp. rose $1, or 4.1 percent, to $25.35.
XL Capital Ltd. rose $2.01, or 11 percent, to $20.43.
