Embarq spent $170K lobbying government in 1Q

Embarq Corp., the nation's fourth-largest landline phone company, spent $170,000 in the first quarter lobbying the federal government, according to a disclosure report.
The Overland Park, Kan.-based company lobbied Congress and the Federal Communications Commission on a bill to repeal a telephone excise tax, as well as issues related to broadband loans, universal service reform and more, according to the form filed April 21 with the House clerk's office.
