Ruby Tuesday Inc.'s fiscal 2009 outlook may boost shares of the restaurant operator on Thursday.
After Wednesday's closing bell, the company offered an outlook mostly above analyst expectations after posting fourth-quarter results that beat expectations, and shares rose in aftermarket trading.
Hot Topic Inc., meanwhile, said June same-store sales slipped on lower sales at its Torrid brand stores.
The teen specialty retailer's company-wide same-store sales declined 0.3 percent in June, but came in above Wall Street estimates.
Elsewhere, a slumping auto market caused auto supplier American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings Inc. to eliminate between 300 and 350 U.S. salaried jobs.
The cuts add to a previously announced elimination of 2,000 U.S. hourly jobs at the supplier.
