DRS Technologies Inc., which makes electronics, communications systems and other technology for the military, said Tuesday it received an additional $56 million contract from the Army for a key part on an armed reconnaissance helicopter.
DRS has received more than $416 million since 2003 when it was initially awarded a five-year deal by the Army, the company said.
DRS will provide support for mast-mounted sights on the OH-58 Kiowa Warrior helicopter. The equipment allows the aircrew to scan the battlefield day or night to acquire and identify locations of potential targets.
The contract is part of the Army's efforts to modify the aircraft to effectively complete missions and provide additional safety.
Shares fell 26 cents to $77.99 in morning trading.
