Informatica sees 2008 profit in line with analysts

Data integration software provider Informatica Corp. has forecast third-quarter and fiscal 2008 earnings in line with analysts' average estimates.
Late Thursday, the Redwood City, Calif.-based company said it is targeting third-quarter earnings of 16 cents to 18 cents per share, excluding one-time charges and gains, on revenue of $111 million to $114 million.
That's up from year-ago profit of 15 cents per share on sales of $96 million and in line with analysts' average forecast of 17 cents per share on revenue of $112.5 million, according to a Thomson Financial poll.
For the full year, earnings per share are expected to range between 70 cents and 75 cents per share, excluding items, on revenue of $455 million to $465 million. In 2007, Informatica posted earnings of 75 cents per share on revenue of $391.3 million.
Wall Street is looking for fiscal 2008 earnings of 73 cents per share on sales of $458.3 million.
On Thursday, Informatica reported earnings of $11.5 million, or 12 cents per share, for the second quarter _ up from year-ago earnings of $10.5 million, or 11 cents per share.
The company's shares rose 91 cents, or 6 percent, to $15.90 in afternoon trading Friday.
