Office furniture maker Steelcase Inc. said Monday it has negotiated a product agreement with Lab Crafters Inc., which manufactures products used in laboratories.
Steelcase said the agreement will advance its market presence by combining Lab Crafters' fume hood technology and industry expertise with Steelcase's marketing, distribution and research-based product development.
"This alliance will allow both companies to provide a richer offering of products intended to help laboratory workers be more effective," Bob DeLuca, chief executive of Ronkonkoma, N.Y.-based Lab Crafters, said in a statement.
Effective Monday, Steelcase and Lab Crafters will distribute a full range of products throughout North America.
Shares of Steelcase rose 17 cents to $10.04 in midday trading.
