Among the earnings projection stories for Tuesday, July 22, from AP Financial News:

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Pentair Inc., which makes systems used to treat and store water, on Tuesday guided for third-quarter and annual profit below Wall Street expectations.

HOUSTON (AP) _ BJ Services Co., an oilfield services provider, on Tuesday issued fiscal fourth-quarter profit guidance above Wall Street predictions, citing expectations for increased drilling and margin improvements.

MADISON, N.J. (AP) _ Medical laboratory operator Quest Diagnostics Inc. raised the low end of its 2008 forecast Tuesday after reporting a larger-than-expected profit in the second quarter.
