Journal Communications Inc. says it has completed its acquisition of KWBA-TV, a CW Network affiliate serving the Tucson, Arizona market.
The Journal Broadcast Group already owns an ABC affiliate in the Tucson market along with four radio stations.
Terms of the deal with Tucson Communications, LLC and Cascade Broadcasting Group weren't disclosed. The sale was announced in March.
Journal Broadcast Group vice chairman and chief executive Doug Kiel says the purchase will allow the group to increase its "hyper-local news focus" and boost its audience.
Milwaukee-based Journal Communications owns the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper along with 35 radio stations and 12 television stations in 12 states. It operates an additional television station under a local marketing agreement.
The CW is a joint venture between Time Warner Inc.'s Warner Bros. unit and CBS Corp. ABC is a unit of The Walt Disney Co.
