Suncor Energy Inc. says high oil prices helped push its second-quarter earnings 12 percent higher.
The energy company said Thursday it earned 829 million Canadian dollars in the latest quarter, up from 738 million Canadian dollars a year ago.
It says the increase reflected historic highs in crude oil prices and strong natural gas operations.
Suncor said its oilsands production averaged 174,600 barrels per day, down 14 percent from the second quarter of 2007.
