NEW YORK (AP) _ Shares in News Corp. fell sharply Wednesday after the media conglomerate said growth in the current fiscal year would slow because of the flagging economy.

NEW YORK (AP) _ Shares of mortgage financier Fannie Mae plunged Wednesday after its brother company Freddie Mac posted a larger-than-expected second-quarter loss due to higher delinquencies and foreclosures among creditworthy homeowners with exotic mortgages.

NEW YORK (AP) _ Shares of Emerson Electric Co., which provides electrical gear, automation systems and process technology, rose Wednesday, a day after it reported that fiscal third-quarter profit rose 6.6 percent on strong international sales and favorable currency.

NEW YORK (AP) _ Shares of clinical software provider Allscripts Healthcare Solutions Inc. surged Wednesday as Wall Street showed optimism that Allscripts is getting past problems with the rollout of its latest TouchWorks electronic health record software.
