Aaron Rents Inc., which sells and rents furniture, on Monday named William K. Butler Jr., as the company's new chief operating officer.
The 55-year-old began working with Aaron Rents in 1974 as a store manager and most recently worked as president of the company's sales and lease division.
Butler replaces Robert C. Loudermilk Jr., who succeeded his father in June and became president and chief executive.
The Atlanta-based company has more than 1,570 stores in the U.S. and Canada.
Aaron Rents shares climbed $1.32, or 4.7 percent, to $29.35 in midday trading Monday.
