Durden named St. Joe Co. chairman

Real estate developer St. Joe Co. announced Monday that it named Hugh M. Durden as chairman of its board of directors.

Durden replaces Peter S. Rummell, who is leaving the Jacksonville, Fla.-based company to become chief executive of Nicklaus Companies LLC.

Durden joined St. Joe's board in 2000 and has been its lead director for the past five years.

The company's shares rose $1.10, or 3 percent, to $37.99 in midday trading.
