The long-term care company Golden Living has announced a new chief executive officer.
Dr. Neil Kurtz will serve as president and CEO of the Fort Smith-based company. Golden Living was formed after the merger of Beverly Enterprises Inc. and Pearl Senior Care in 2006.
Kurtz's most recent position was as CEO of TorreyPines Therapeutics Inc., a biopharmaceutical company.
"I have had the good fortune to work with Dr. Kurtz over the past several months, and I can say without hesitation that he will enhance the leadership talent of our company, complement the efforts of our senior management team and bring a fresh perspective to the way we operate our business units," said Ronald E. Silva, President and CEO of Fillmore Capital Partners and owner of Golden Living.
At TorreyPines, Kurtz sought alternatives to existing therapies through the research and development of new compounds to treat unmet clinical needs, according to Golden Living.
Randy Churchey left as CEO about a year ago. The position has been open since then, with several top executives handling the duties.
Golden Living operates 329 skilled nursing facilities and 17 assisted living facilities in 22 states.
