Shares of some top education companies were up at the close of trading:

Apollo Group rose $1.85 or 2.9 percent, to $65.50.

Career Education rose $.55 or 3.0 percent, to $18.94.

DeVry rose $.92 or 1.8 percent, to $51.23.

Strayer Education rose $.52 or .2 percent, to $212.66.
