Microchip Technology Inc. said J. Eric Bjornholt will succeed Gordon Parnell as vice president and chief financial officer following Parnell's retirement at the end of the year.

Bjornholt currently serves as vice president of finance and corporate secretary of the Chandler, Ariz., chip maker.

Microchip Technology's shares fell $1.11, or 3.5 percent, to $30.65 Wednesday.
