Natus Medical Inc., a provider of medical devices for newborn care, said Wednesday it plans to buy privately-held NeuroCom International for $18 million.
Based in Clackamas Ore., NeuroCom makes computer systems to help assess and rehabilitate patients with balance and mobility disorders. The company posted $11.3 million in revenue for the fiscal year ended June 30.
Natus said the acquisition, which is expected to close in October, should add to its earnings immediately, excluding one-time charges.
Chief Executive Jim Hawkins said Neurocom's products will bring Natus closer to its goal of boosting annual revenue to $250 million.
Shares of Natus Medical Inc. rose 42 cents Wednesday to $25.04 in midday trading.
