Shares of some top commercial banks companies were down at the close of trading:

First Horizon fell $.73 or 6.2 percent, to $11.01.

National City fell $.29 or 5.7 percent, to $4.79.

Wachovia fell $1.65 or 9.6 percent, to $15.53.

Zions Bancorp fell $.16 or .5 percent, to $30.53.
