Oil and natural gas company Gulfport Energy Corp. said Thursday there was no structural damage to its West Cote Blanche Bay facilities in Louisiana from Hurricane Gustav, and that its team is ready to resume operations.
Gustav made landfall in the state on Monday, and had been expected by some to rival the impact of 2005's Hurricane Katrina. Yet many in the oil and gas industry were relieved that the storm did not ravage their facilities.
Gulfport said the timing of the restart of production will be determined "primarily by the availability of necessary third party services," but that initial production in its Hackberry fields facility was restored on Tuesday.
Shares fell 38 cents, or 3 percent, to $12.43 in midday trading.
