Logistics and transportation company Pacer International Inc. said Thursday it has elevated a senior finance executive to the post of chief financial officer.

Brian Kane, who in June was named senior vice president of corporate finance, will take over the CFO job effective Sept. 15, the company said.

Kane succeeds Larry Yarberry, who will retain a senior executive role at the company until he retires at the end of the year.

Pacer also named Joseph Doherty executive vice president of investor relations. He has served as treasurer since 2000.

Pacer shares fell 81 cents, or 3.8 percent, to $20.44 Thursday.
