Shares of some top utilities companies are down at 10 a.m.:

AEP fell $.47 or 1.2 percent, to $37.62.

ConEd fell $.31 or .8 percent, to $40.85.

Duke Energy fell $.10 or .6 percent, to $17.19.

Pepco Holdings fell $.44 or 1.8 percent, to $23.70.

Southern Co fell $.15 or .4 percent, to $37.15.
