Engineering and construction services provider KBR Inc. said Wednesday that one of its units received a $232 million contract to build an activated carbon plant in Louisiana.
ADA Environmental Solutions Inc. awarded the contract, to build the Red River Activated Carbon Plant in Red River Parish, La., to BE&K, part of KBR's services business unit.
ADA develops technology for coal-fueled power plants to enhance exiting air-pollution control equipment.
BE&K, which KBR acquired in July, will begin work on the plant immediately.
KBR said the contract will allow KBR to use its expertise in reducing air emissions from coal-fired power plans, a market which it expects to grow in the future.
