StanCorp Financial Group Inc., an insurance provider, on Thursday named Greg Ness president and chief operating officer, effective immediately.
Ness also takes the same titles at StanCorp's largest subsidiary, Standard Insurance Co.
Ness, 50, joined Standard Insurance Co. in 1979 and most recently served as senior vice president, insurance services.
Eric Parsons, the prior president, remains chairman and chief executive. He was also the last person to hold the COO title, until he was promoted in 2003.
StanCorp provides financial products and services through its subsidiaries including The Standard Life Insurance Co. of New York.
In July, StanCorp said its second-quarter profit slipped 7 percent due to net capital losses.
