URS Corp. said Thursday it received a $600 million contract from We Energies to upgrade the air quality control system of a Wisconsin power plant.
Under terms of the four-year deal, URS will also be responsible for management, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services.
The construction and engineering company has started preliminary site work at the Oak Creek facility and will work on installing two wet limestone forced oxidation flue-gas-desulfurization systems for the removal of sulfur dioxide and two selective catalytic reduction systems for the removal of nitrogen oxide.
Contract work will continue through the 2012 second quarter.
We Energies is the more common name of Wisconsin Electric Power Co. and Wisconsin Gas LLC, the principal utility divisions of Wisconsin Energy Corp. It serves more than 1.1 million electric customers in Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula and more than 1 million natural gas customers in Wisconsin.
URS shares were flat at $41.52 in trading immediately after the opening bell.
