Regional consumer-electronics retailer Conn's Inc. said Monday it closed 28 of its 73 stores before Hurricane Ike before it made U.S. landfall on Saturday and expects most of the closed stores to be reopened Monday.
The company said it began closing 28 of its 73 stores, including 27 in Texas and one in Louisiana, as well as its service and distribution operations in the affected markets, on Thursday.
It reopened six stores on Sunday and plans to have 21 of the 28 closed stores open on Monday.
The closed stores were mainly in the Houston area. Beaumont, Texas-based Conn's said initial visits do not show any significant damage to the company's corporate headquarters, stores or distribution and service centers.
