Ametek Inc. said Wednesday it sold $350 million in senior notes in a private placement with institutional investors.

The maker of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices said the seven and 10-year notes were sold at a weighted average interest rate of 6.93 percent.

Ametek shares closed down $1.62 at $41.53.
