American Equity 3Q annuity sales hit $571.8M

American Equity Investment Life Holding Co.'s third-quarter annuity sales totaled $571.8 million, putting year-to-date sales up 6 percent from last year.

The company also said it will not reinstate its share repurchase program, which it suspended in August. The authorization expires in November.

The company plans to report third-quarter earnings Nov. 5.

Shares rose 24 cents, or 4 percent, to $6.38 in morning trading.
