Among the earnings projection stories for Tuesday, Dec. 9, from AP Financial News:

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ Chip equipment maker Novellus Systems Inc. said Tuesday it will shrink its work force by 10 percent and cut its chief executive's pay in half as sales dry up.

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) _ Vail Resorts Inc., which runs mountain resorts, maintained its fiscal 2009 guidance Tuesday, but warned its results may fall below expectations if weak booking trends continue.

RYE, N.Y. (AP) _ Jarden Corp. on Tuesday predicted fiscal fourth-quarter revenue below analyst expectations.
