Air medical transportation company Air Methods Corp. said Thursday it has agreed to buy the Rescue Air operations of Omniflight Inc. in Atlanta and North Georgia for an undisclosed sum.
The purchase price is based on a risk-sharing model and is dependent on future results.
When the deal is completed, expected on Feb. 1, the current operating bases of Air Methods and Omniflight's Rescue Air 1 will be consolidated into six.
Three bases will operate under the Emory Flight name currently used by Air Methods. The other three bases will operate under the name Rescue Air, and Air Methods will contract with Omniflight for services at these three locations.
Amid a downturn in the broader market, shares of Air Methods fell 48 cents, or 2.5 percent, to $18.60 in midday trading.
