An investor group that promotes environmental causes has named coal producers Massey Energy co. and Consol Energy Inc. and six other companies to a climate watch list.
Also making the list released Wednesday are Atlanta-based utility Southern Co., ExxonMobil Corp., Chevron Corp. and General Motors Corp.
Boston-based Ceres, which released the list, says the companies aren't dealing with climate-related business impacts adequately. Ceres says shareholders have filed resolutions with eight of the nine companies and 44 other businesses aimed at improving their focus on financial risks related to climate change.
Also on the list are energy companies Ultra Petroleum Corp. and Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. and homebuilder Standard Pacific Corp.
