Craft and fabric retailer Jo-Ann Stores Inc. said Thursday its same-store sales rose 1 percent in the first quarter.
Same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year, are a key measure of retailer performance, because they measure growth at existing stores rather than from newly opened ones.
Total sales for the quarter ended May 2 rose 3 percent to $460 million from $446.1 million.
Shares of Jo-Ann Stores rose 14 cents to $19.97 in morning trading.
