NEW YORK (AP) _ Department store operator Macy's Inc. reported a wider first-quarter loss as it restructured its businesses to adapt to a drop in consumer spending.

NEW YORK (AP) _ Apparel maker Liz Claiborne Inc. said its first-quarter loss deepened on restructuring charges and a drop in same-store sales stemming from lower consumer spending and an extra week of sales in the year-earlier period.

PLANO, Texas (AP) _ Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. said its first-quarter profit rose 39 percent, boosted by a deal to sell distribution rights to Hansen Beverage Co.
