Former Montana governor joins Avista board

Former Montana Gov. Marc Racicot has been appointed to the board of Avista Corp., the Spokane-based utility.

Racicot had been president and chief executive of the American Insurance Association until February. He was governor of Montana from 1993 to 2001.

He also serves as a director for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp., Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. and Allied Capital Corp.
