Quest Diagnostics starts tender offer for notes

Medical lab operator Quest Diagnostics Inc. said Tuesday that it started a tender offer to buy up to $200 million of senior notes due in 2010 and 2011.

Quest said there are $400 million of the 2010 notes outstanding and $275 million of the 2011 notes outstanding.

Those who tender notes before June 2 will receive a $30 early tender premium per $1,000 of notes tendered and validly accepted.

The tender offer expires on June 16 unless extended.

Shares of Quest Diagnostics added 59 cents to $51.64 in midday trading.
