Campbell Soup Co., the world's largest soup maker, said Monday that former Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. Chief Executive William Perez has joined its board of directors.

Perez, 61, succeeds Kent Foster, who retired from the board in March 2008.

His appointment brings Campbell's board to 15 members, with 14 of the directors independent. The 15th member is President and Chief Executive Douglas R. Conant.

Aside from previously serving as Wrigley's CEO, Perez has also served as president and CEO of shoe and apparel company Nike Inc.
