ManTech names Prior as new president and COO

Defense contractor ManTech International Corp. said Monday it has a new president and chief operating officer.

Lawrence B. Prior III, will begin work in early July. He also will take a seat on the company's board.

Prior was COO of San Diego, Calif.-based SAIC Inc. since October 2007.

ManTech provides software development, engineering, systems integration, security and other services for defense, intelligence, homeland security, state department and space agencies.

Before entering a career in industry, Prior was a professional staff member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and was an intelligence officer in the Marine Corps for more than a decade.

Fairfax, Va.-based ManTech has 8,000 employees in the United States and 40 other countries.

ManTech shares rose $2.47, or 6.3 percent, to $41.81. SAIC shares fell 55 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $18.39.
