The American Chemistry Council spent $970,000 in the first quarter to lobby on the federal stimulus package, climate change and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report.

The trade group, whose members include Dow Chemical and DuPont, also lobbied on legislation involving the security of chemical facilities, science education, energy efficiency and other issues.

Calvin Dooley, the ACC's president and chief executive, formerly served as a Democratic member of the House representing parts of central California.

In the January-March period, the Arlington, Va.-based trade group lobbied Congress, the White House, the departments of Energy, Interior, Transportation and other agencies, according to the report filed with the House clerk's office on April 17.
