The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission is considering whether to accept a settlement in Otter Tail Power Co.'s proposed rate increase for its electricity customers in the state.
The PUC staff and Otter Tail have proposed the settlement.
Documents filed by the PUC indicate the proposal would provide an overall 11.7 percent increase in rates for retail electricity customers in South Dakota, but increases would vary according to different kinds of customers. That would boost annual revenue by about $3 million for the company.
Otter Tail, based in Fergus Falls, Minn., has about 11,700 customers in South Dakota.
