Imax Corp., which makes large-screen movie systems, said Wednesday that it signed a deal with movie theater operator Aliance Entertainment to install its digital projection systems at two of the company's multiplexes.

Terms were not disclosed.

The systems will be installed at Aliance's Simpsonville, S.C., site and an undisclosed location in the Northeast during the fourth quarter. Both multiplex developments are set to open later this year.

"The lower cost of Imax's digital projection system has made it much easier for an exhibitor of our size to enter the Imax business," Aliance President and CEO Anne Ragains said in a statement.

Aliance runs theaters under the Great Escape Theatres brand.

Imax currently has signed contracts for more than 200 digital projection systems worldwide, with 100 currently in operation.
