Coal refiner Evergreen Energy Inc. on Thursday named Thomas Stoner Jr. as its new president and CEO.
Stoner succeeds Kevin R. Collins, who retired, according to an SEC filing in May.
The 49-year-old, described by the Denver-based company as an energy and carbon-markets expert, has served as the company's interim president and CEO since the beginning of June and as an executive consultant to the company for about six months before that.
Stoner served as CEO of Econergy International PLC from 1998 to 2008. Evergreen's chairman, Rick Smith, said Stoner grew Econergy "from a pioneer in carbon trading to a world leading developer of clean-development-mechanism projects before selling it to a wholly owned subsidiary of the GDF SUEZ Group in 2008."
Stoner will also join Evergreen's board.
