IMAX creates, fills chief operating officer post

Large-screen movie systems maker IMAX Corp. said Thursday it has created a chief operating officer position and appointed the former executive of a rock concert promotions company to fill the post.
Gary Moss, 50, will assume the job July 20. He will be primarily responsible for leading efforts to execute the company's business strategy, refining performance management systems and focusing on the integrated operation of all business units, the company said in a statement.
Moss is a 15-year veteran of the media and entertainment industry, most recently serving for four years as chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Concert Productions International, a promoter of rock concerts and tours in North America. CPI is a subsidiary of Live Nation Inc.
IMAX equipment is installed in 371 theaters in 43 countries as of March 31, the company said.
Shares climbed 71 cents, or 9.9 percent, to $7.85. They've traded between $2.41 and $8.28 in the past 52 weeks.
