Shares of some top insurers companies were down at the close of trading:
American Internation fell $.17 or 12.8 percent, to $1.16.
MBIA fell $.14 or 3.1 percent, to $4.33.
MGIC Investments fell $.05 or 1.1 percent, to $4.40.
XL Capital fell $.03 or .3 percent, to $11.46.
