Shares of some top machinery companies were up at the close of trading:
Caterpillar rose $.15 or .5 percent, to $33.19.
Deere rose $.42 or 1.1 percent, to $40.37.
Manitowoc rose $.19 or 3.6 percent, to $5.45.
Terex rose $.08 or .7 percent, to $12.15.
